Info Session of GUFL and PU Joint Program of Bachelor & Postgraduate

On the morning of May 23, 2020, under the organization of Vice President Wei Kejian, Vice Dean of the European-American Languages and Cultures Chen Qiqian, and Zhang Yunzhi, Deputy Chief of Administrative Affairs Department, an info session of Guangxi University of Foreign Languages (GUFL) and Payap University (PU),Thailand joint program of bachelor and postgraduate was held at GUFL Kong Gang campus.

Freshmen majoring in Thai and English attended the session. They concerned about their future development and wanted to know how to improve their degree.

Deputy Chief of Administrative Affairs Department Zhang Yunzhi Speaking

 

The session was beginning with a promotional video of PU. Zhang Yunzhi, Deputy Chief of Administrative Affairs Department introduced the general situation of PU first. He said PU was located in Chiang Mai, the second largest city of Thailand. It is known as the North Thai Rose. PU is the first private university registered in Thailand, ranking first in the north of Thailand and seventh in the whole of Thailand. PU was founded in 1888. It has a history of 46 years. In July, 2019, GUFL and PU formally signed a MoU to build an international college to carry out bachelor and postgraduate program of Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Teaching English To Speakers Of Other Languages (TESOL).

Zhang Yunzhi, Deputy Chief of Administrative Affairs Department, focused on the "2+2" study abroad program of PU. That is students will study in GUFL for the 1st and 2nd year and study abroad in PU for the 3rd and 4th year. They will obtain bachelor degree after they successfully graduate from PU.

Chen Qiqian, Vice Dean of the European-American Languages and Cultures School, introduced the development trend of language majors to the students in recent years. He pointed out that all industries tend to recruit highly educated graduates and encouraged students to upgrade their degree in PU.

Students Asking Questions

 

In the final part, students showed strong interested in study abroad in PU, Thailand for bachelor and postgraduate degree.They asked questions one by one. Vice President Wei Kejian, Deputy Chief Zhang Yunzhi and Vice Dean Chen Qiqian respectively answered students' questions in detail. This session helped students understand the basic situation of PU,provided opportunities for students to study abroad, and further stimulate students' enthusiasm for learning.
